We had a wonderful experience at the Port Hope Rona today with the gentleman behind the customer service desk going above and beyond helping us to pick up some baseboards. I'm sorry for not remembering his name but the lady next to him was Kathy. We appreciated his help so much as my husband was not feeling well and we drove all the way from Colborne. Great service from everyone in the store, bravo Rona!

Would give 0 stars if we could. We were close to Port Hope but are not locals and decided to stop in while we had a truck to pick up some salt for our softener. The cashier refused to sell us the salt needed because “they are saving it for locals”. She suggested we could go to Peterborough Rona instead which is farther from our home and if Rona has a policy to not sell to people who live outside of town then it would be another pointless trip. Extremely unfriendly and not welcoming.

This is less of a "big box store" and more of a neighbourhood and contractor lumber store. They have a large inventory of pine boards in most widths and lengths, including some beautiful pine tongue-and-groove. I have never been disappointed with the selection.
They now have an expanded retail section, so check it out!

I bought some trim today and within 20 minutes I returned because I had purchased the wrong product. One of the 4 items was defective and apparently one of them had a crack in it. I have been there a few times and spoke to the same guy. The guy told me he had 12 years as a contractor and he flat out told me that he knew I rammed it into the door and broke it and wasn’t willing to help me out.
I am a new contractor and I had a lumber order in my pocket that I was about to order for another client. Well, after that exchange, I went to Home Depot!!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Rona in Port hope with two homes i have built and in the last 14 years John their main sales guy, was nothing short than amazing, from great pricing to great service and not to mention great advice. Knowledgeable, punctual and second to none in my view.
For anyone who is on the hunt for great service along with great price, look no further .
